The Weleda Farm is run by its owner Elizabeth Wertheim Aymes. As a child, Elizabeth dreamed of having her own farm, complete with cows who would be lovingly cared for and who would all have their own names and not numbers. Today she is living that dream and wants to share it with you!
Elizabeth has opened her farm to all city weary families who would like to enjoy the experience of farm life. It is a perfect place for children, who are most welcome to help in the milking shed and dairy itself. Children are encouraged to participate in all aspects of farm life, including feeding the animals. The farm specialises in producing organic foods and makes it own cream, butter, cheese and yoghurt.
For the enthusiastic angler, there are three well stocked dams and two canoes for the keen paddler. The farm is paradise to all bird watchers as 112 species have already been spotted. For those who enjoy something more energetic, the Magaliesberg, which is just north of the farm, takes two hours to climb. A half-hour walk takes you to a tree with an interesting history, the southernmost Leadwood tree in the country that the Boers and the Brits took turns in camping around. The Weleda Farm is also a member of the Magalies Meander. A super way to spend the day is driving through the scenic country-side, stopping at each meander venue to view the arts and crafts which are produced by locals in the area.
Weleda's self catering, two-bedroomed cottage sleeps six (eight if you pull out the sofa bed). Its big, inviting veranda overlooks the lawn and dam beyond - tranquillity at its best! The cottage is well equipped, with a cot if required, and visitors only need bring their food. There is a supply store within 3kms of the farm for your convenience. The cottage is charged out at R250 per person sharing per night.
The focus at Weleda Farm is on quality of life and is therefore an ideal get-away venue! This 25-hectare dairy farm has spectacular mountain views and its altitude is considerably lower than Johannesburg, which means sleep comes easily!
All you have to do on the Weleda Farm is sit and wait for the cows to come home!
