Come to enjoy life on an Overberg working farm - sheep, cattle, ostrich & grain. Meander through the beautiful garden, have a swim, do birdwatching, bring your bicycle for biking or just have a rest in a peaceful atmosphere.

Verfheuwel Guestfarm is next to the De Hoop Nature Reserve near the Potberg gate – fully equipped for selfcatering and we provide linen and towels (bring only yours for swimming). Use of braai facilities - firewood for free. If you’d like meals, please arrange with hostess.

- De Hoop Nature Reserve - known for its fauna and flora and the magnificent dunes at Koppie Alleen where the whales come to breed June - November.
- Potberg - walking trails and maybe you’ll see the vultures.
- Malgas - the ferry to pass the Breede River to Witsand/N2
- Swellendam - a beautiful old town, worth to spend a day at.
- Bredasdorp - known for the shipwreck museum.
- Arniston / Waenhuiskrans - go and see the big cave and beautiful old fisherman’s houses.
- Cape L’Aughulas - the southern most point of Africa and lighthouse.

Verfheuwel is the nearest guesthouse to the start of the Whale Trail, if you are to late for the gate… treat yourself and book beforehand…

Route: Cape Town N2 > 115km > Caledon > 60km > Napier > 16km > Bredasdorp > 8km on road to Swellendam > turn right onto gravel to Malgas / De Hoop > keep on straight for 40km to Potberg > VERFHEUWEL on your left hand.

Route: From Swellendam > 4km on N2 to Riviersonderend > turn left to Malgas > 22km> turn right to Ouplaas > 13km> T-junction > turn left to Potberg > 4km > VERFHEUWEL on your left hand.
