Thornycroft Lodge is nestled in the heart of Horseshoe Valley, on a large country estate resting on the banks of the Nahoon River and adjacent to a private game reserve. The surrounding hills and lush landscape cocoon you in a bubble of tranquility, separating you from the city of East London, which is only a 10 minute drive away.

An 'outdoor living' approach, coupled with uncomplicated designs and natural tones, creates a relaxed atmosphere where you can really put your feet up, taking in the sounds of the valley.

Our spacious guest suites make maximum use of natural light, with large sliding doors opening onto the gardens. Each suite features a queen size bed, safe and clock radio, a separate living area with home entertainment system (TV / DVD / Surround Sound), overhead fan, fridge / mini-bar with complimentary tea / coffee, and a private bathroom.

The separate living area also features a sleeper couch, which can accommodate up to two children under 13 years. Guests are welcome to make use of our mini video library, either in their room, or in our mini-cinema, at no charge. Suites are serviced daily and laundry and babysitting services are available.

Full a la carte gourmet breakfasts, light lunches and exquisite three course dinners are served in the dining room or, weather permitting, al fresco.

Our spa offers a range of health treatments for men and women, designed to de-stress and rejuvenate. Massage treatments are most popular and range from R100 to R180. To experience absolute bliss, combine one of our massage treatments with a sauna or jacuzzi soak.

The thatched poolside bar is the heart of the lodge and the ideal way to end the day. Enjoy a game of pool, darts, table tennis or Nintendo WII, or catch your favourite sport on the big screen. Relax in the hammock with a drink, or soak up the sun on a lilo in the pool. For something a little quieter, enjoy a film in our mini-cinema, or settle down to a good read in the winter lounge, absorbing the warmth of the fireplace during the colder months.
