Right in the heart of the fabulous and scenic Baviaanskloof lies Studtis. Studtis Poort is itself one of the spectacular places one drives through in one's journey through the kloof. It’s central location makes Studtis an ideal place to base oneself when exploring the kloof.
From the western (Willowmore) side Studtis is reached by a good quality gravel road suitable for all types of vehicle.
Driving eastwards, a car can explore the Wilderness area as far as Rooihoek although a 4x4 or a vehicle with a high ground clearance is necessary to go all the way through to Patensie due to about 35 km of very bad road in the Wilderness area.
At Studtis, on the farm "Studtis Olywe", lies Kamerkloof which offers a variety of accommodation to suit all needs for upwards of two dozen visitors.
There is a self-catering guest house situated on its own, surrounded by olive groves. This offers a number of rooms for couples.
For large groups there is clean, basic dormitory accommodation.
For budget travellers or those who just like to get closer to nature there are also camp sites available.
Accommodation:
Kamerkloof offers a flexible variety of accommodation.
Firstly, there are two luxury rooms with en-suite bathrooms (bath, shower, washbasin and toilet). These have separate entrances off the stoep and are suitable for couples requiring accommodation. One room has a queen size bed and the other 2¾ beds.
Secondly, there is a dormitory which sleeps fourteen and off the dormitory is a single room. This accommodation is ideally suited for groups such as motor cycle or 4x4 rallies who do not wish to be dispersed, or for school outings or scout groups.
There is an ablution block with separate facilities for both men and women. The kitchen comes fully equipped (including microwave and dishwasher) and there are comfortable communal sitting and dining rooms.
There are unobstructed views out onto the mountains and the olive groves from the house while there are breathtaking views over the farm and the Baviaanskloof Mountains from the deck at the large concrete dam in which one can swim. On the stoep is a large braai as well as a lapa by the dam for outdoor entertaining.
Thirdly, camping sites with power points are also available in the grounds. Campers also make use of the ablution block in the house.
Fourthly, near the main farmstead is a fully equipped flat, sleeping four, with its own bathroom, kitchen and lounge.
Fifthly, a room in the homestead near the flat with a kingsize bed and a private bathroom and outside door available (sleeping two).
