We are the closest spot (1km) to the Hluhluwe / Imfolozi National Park! For the best 4x4 open vehicle game drives since 1969, visit Hluhluwe Backpackers! We call the Big 5 our neighbours and enjoy a stunning 360 degree view onto the surrounding hills of Zululand and the mountains of the National Park!
We offer a very warm and homely atmosphere in a unique and peaceful environment. Our main house has 3 comfortable double, a twin room and 2 x 4-bed dorms with shared bathroom facilities. The kitchen is very well equipped with all cutlery, crockery, utensils, gas stoves, a fridge and freezer and a microwave. If you are not in the mood for cooking, we can spoil you with one of our tasty meals! The lounge/dining and reception areas, the Park Pub (with cold beers and a variety of drinks) large garden area with a big boma / braai (bbq) and outside eating areas, offer you ample space to relax!
Also on offer is a chalet, 3 stationery parked caravans and 12 camping sites (light and plug points provided) - all under the shade of Marula and other indigenous trees! Excellent ablution facilities are close-by. Our self-catering kitchen and Boma/Braai (BBQ) area is there for your use.
We recommend you to join us on one of our open-vehicle game drives into the National Park, conducted by a professional Field Guide. Extras include fire shows, Zulu dancing, star gazing, bird watching, trips to St Lucia and surrounding areas including rural Zulu Villages, etc.
ATTRACTIONS
Extremely close to the Memorial Gate (Northern entrance) to the Hluhluwe / Imfolozi National Park. Ideal base to go exploring the many, smaller, game reserves in the area.
Nearby places include: False Bay, Kozi Bay, Sodwana Bay (for snorkeling and scuba diving), St Lucia Wetlands Park (a World Herritage site), where hippo's and crocodiles can be spotted and boat trips can be undertaken. The Swaziland Border is approximately 1.5 hours' drive away.
Local craft markets, rural Zulu villages, a crocodile park and a cheetah and serval cats project can be visited. Bird watching in these areas are amazing!
The 'town' Hluhluwe is approximately 12 km from here, where you can find shops, supermarkets, liquor outlets and a variety of 'take-away' food restaurants. Banks and ATM's are available. There are pharmacies, doctors, an Internet Cafe, post office, fuel stations, etc.
