Highthorn is a majestic stone farmhouse perfect for group getaways. Set in the foothills of the Central Drakensberg with magnificent views from Giants Castle to the Amphitheatre. Attractions are trout fishing, birding, walking, mountain biking and a sauna.

Highthorn has 6 spacious bedrooms, with a total of 14 beds (2 queen, 2 double and 2 triple) and 3 bathrooms. Our magnificent kitchen is fully equipped with freezer, fridge, microwave, large stove/oven, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery, pots, etc. Our friendly staff service the house and do all the dishwashing.

Peace, privacy and beautiful views await you. For your entertainment enjoy fly fishing in the well stocked trout dam (free), take your mountain bike to the many amazing view points, enjoy a picnic to one of the sundowner spots, choose a leisurely or challenging walk around the farm to the breathtaking views and enjoy the birding along the way, take a trip along the adjoining Midlands Meander and explore some of the quaint pubs and restaurants, pamper yourself with a sauna (on site).

In the evenings use our braai, play one of the many board games or read a book from the bookcase and settle down next to our large fireplace.

Highthorn is nestled in the Drakensberg foothills 25 minutes from Giants Castle nature Reserve. It is 2 hrs from Durban and 4.5 hrs from Johannesburg on tar roads (only the last 3km not tarred).

Directions:
From the N3 (Johannesesburg or Durban) take the Mooi River fly off and make your way into the town.
Follow the signs to Giants Castle.
As you pass the Argyle Arms Hotel on your left hand side, zero your odometer.
After approximately 18km you will see a sign that says ESTCOURT 27. Turn right here onto a dirt road.
After about 1km the road will fork, the sign says MOOR PARK 14. Take the road to the left.
After about 1km look out for a sign on the left hand side which says HIGHTHORN.
Turn left here into our driveway.

Kids under 10 are half price
Babies are free if you bring your own camp cot.
